Leaving Christie's King Street in the heart of London in 1999, after four happy years there, was not a pleasant experience. It was of course foolhardy of me to have blown the whistle on my director for trying to pass off his partner's fake antiques as genuine. I moved on swiftly to greener pastures, but a real catharsis only came fifteen years later, when in early 2014, together with French and Colombian business partners, I set up Bogotá Auctions, the first professional auction house for fine art and collectibles in Colombia. This venture was ambitious in an immature market, but it was also fun.
Since the launch of that venture, I have conducted over a dozen auctions of fine paintings, contemporary art, stamp designs and used cars, and it is always a blast.
